How to write a critical Analysis of a Research Paper

Critical analysis research paper Sounds complicated, right? Not really. When cheap research paper writing embark on writing a critical review of a research paper, they aim at testing someone else’s research work to enhance readers an understanding of the paper. A critical analysis is mainly personal writing because you’re expressing your evaluation or opinion of the research paper. Analysis refers to breaking down and studying the parts. Therefore, when we are requested to write a paper for me we usually follow the procedure showed below to come up with a perfectly written paper.

Steps for Writing a critical analysis of a research paper

Step 1: Rough Draft

Create a rough draft of the paper in which you test the following aspects, which you will incorporate in your critical analysis paper afterward;

• The author’s position or argument on the issue
• The context in which the argument was made
• The author’s theoretical background and how it might have influenced his/her argument or opinion
• What is that author’s solution to the problem
• The reasonability of the author’s solution in the give situation
• The tools the author has used in supporting the argument, such as logic, research, and emotional appeals.
• The effectiveness of the author’s means of persuasion
• Critique on whether the information provided by the author is presented coherently and logically.
Once, you’ve included the following in your draft; you can write your critical analysis of the research paper.

Step 2: Introduce the Paper

Introduce the research paper and theory you will analyze in your critical analysis. You can mention the title, author, the topic/ argument or thesis to be analyzed. This forms your thesis statement on which the whole critical analysis will be based. Keep it clear and concise.

Step 3: Summarize the Paper

Summarize the author’s work. You only need to cover the general information of the work in the summary. You should not include tiny details of the work as this will appear like you’re copying the whole of the author’s work. The key word here is ‘summary,’ so keep it clear and concise. You can decide on the length of your analysis paper, keep it below 30% of the total word count.

Step 4: Analyze the Paper

This is where the real critique takes place. Here, you only need to elaborate on the evaluation that you’ve already made in your rough draft. Describe all the author’s main idea in the text. Describe how he/she supported each of the main points and then analyze and critique the effectiveness, efficiency, validity, and strength of the argument based on a context. Discuss the implications of the arguments made by the author and any question(s) that rises from the discussion. Assess whether those implications are positive or negative (bad or good). Also, highlight how effective or ineffective the author has dealt with the issue.

Step 5: Conclusion

Conclude the analysis by giving a brief review of what you’ve written in the paper. Some questions you need to find answers to in your report are; what finding or solutions have you made from the author’s argument? The strengths and weaknesses of the author’s topic and argument?, and What are the shortcomings of the sources and the methodology? Comment on the results and conclusion made by the author.

Step 6: Proofread Your Work

As with any other writing, the last part of your critical analysis paper should be proofreading the work. Check the work for grammar errors, spelling mistakes, wrong use of tense, semantic or formatting errors. You may find someone else to proofread the work for you and make necessary corrections.

Things to Consider When Writing a Critical Review

• When writing a critical analysis for a research paper, don’t just approve or dismiss the author’s argument based on your opinion. Support your evaluation and idea using credible resources with references. This may include research findings, facts, theories, events and others. Your analysis needs to be logical.
• Review the paper from top to bottom. This means you should analyze the author’s first argument, before proceeding to the next. This is the best way of keeping your content logic.
• Keep a fair and neutral approach throughout your critical analysis paper. Critical analysis doesn’t mean only highlighting the negative aspects of the author’s work or disagreeing with each of his arguments. You should be neutral in your writing, by looking at both the positive and negative aspects of the work.
